Khamzat Chimaev On  Sean Strickland Says “Deserves It” The UFC Title Win

Despite being competitive at 170 pounds, it appears that Chimaev will target the middleweight title as his first stop

The MMA community is still thinking back on the most recent pay-per-view main event, despite the fact that championship talk will soon shift to the UFC’s explosive end-of-year schedule, which will feature lightweight, heavyweight, light heavyweight, welterweight, and flyweight gold on the line.

Middleweight Sean Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya in the main event of UFC 293 on September 9 in Sydney, Australia, to achieve his previously improbable title goals. Of course, Strickland will face stiff competition for that crown in the coming months, including Khamzat Chimaev.

Since then, the newly crowned champion has received a lot of accolades. A man aiming for the belt he now holds is the most recent to send some his way. The second installment of Khamzat Chimaev’s most recent fight camp series on his YouTube channel featured an interview with the new champion of the 185-pound division with the #4-ranked UFC welterweight challenger.

As someone who had previously worked out with Strickland at the Xtreme Couture gym in Las Vegas, “Borz” maintained that “Tarzan” and his group deserved to be crowned champions earlier this month.

Khamzat Chimaev says, “He works hard, deserves it,” Chimaev said. “The guy is always in the gym. Now he’s got the belt. He has a good team, good coach. I have been there, trained with that guy. They deserve that belt. He has been active, fights with everybody.”

Despite being competitive at 170 pounds, it appears that Chimaev will target the middleweight title as his first stop in his quest for several titles on MMA’s greatest stage.

After failing to make weight in his previous outing, “Borz” will temporarily leave the welterweight category and take on 185-pound contender and former championship challenger Paulo Costa at UFC 294 next month.
