Khabib Nurmagomedov addresses UFC following his victory over Conor McGregor

At UFC 229, the rivalry between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor took a brutal turn in the octagon. Following the match, MMA fans saw Khabib jumping off the octagon toward Team McGregor, leading to a big brawl. This included both teams as Khabib’s teammates tried to attack Conor inside the cage. This incident raised heavy fines on both teams leading to the suspension of Khabib’s teammate who attacked Conor.

Recently, a Twitter user shared Khabib’s IG Post from 2018, where he addressed concerns with the UFC regarding his teammate’s suspension and false behavior from UFC. The resurfaced IG post quickly went viral; fans claim this isn’t from Khabib. Instead, fans have stated that the IG post is written by no other than his former manager Ali Abdelaziz.

In the Instagram post, Khabib talks about how the UFC punished his brother, Zubaira Tukhugov, by canceling his fight. He also mentions that the UFC supported Conor McGregor and his team while penalizing him and his teammates. Khabib points out that the UFC didn’t give him the money he was supposed to receive according to their contract. Because of the brawl that happened at UFC 229, the NSAC management took action and withheld his match fees.

What actually happened after UFC 229?

At UFC 229, Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor via submission. Soon after, he claimed the octagon to attack Conor’s teammate Dillion Danis. Meanwhile, Khabib’s teammates Abubakar and Zubaira Tukhugov attacked Conor inside the octagon when the NSAC put a suspension on both fighters.

As a result of the brawl, the NSAC suspended Khabib Nurmagomedov for 9 months. With further investigation into both fighters, the commission released half-match fees to both fighters imposing a fine of $500,000 on Khabib in January 2019. This also included the temporary suspension of his teammates Abubakar and Tukhugov for a year; however, later, the commission reduced their suspension to 35 days allowing both fighters to compete in September 2019. The commission also suspended Dillion Danis for seventh months due to his involvement.

The whole rivalry between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor took great heights imposing suspensions and fines on themselves. Until this date, the rivalry continues as both men continue to trash-talk each other on several occasions.
