Jorge Masvidal recently claimed that he can convince Dana White to give him the fight against Leon Edwards before Colby Covington by unveiling a stellar performance tonight.

The UFC President, however, seems to have outlined his plans already. In a chat with TMZ, Dana White explained how he foresees the welterweight division moving after UFC 287.

White said, “If he goes in and he does that against a guy like Gilbert Burns. Right? Whom I have a ton of respect for. Gilbert Burns is an absolute bad a**. Yeah, then you have Colby Covington vs Leon Edwards and if Leon Edwards beats Colby Covington, the history between Leon Edwards and [Jorge] Masvidal after they both win these fights. That fight will be so huge. People will be dying to see that fight.”

He continued, “100% it would be absolutely massive and maybe we do it back in Miami.”

Having lost all three of his last fights, Jorge Masvidal is currently out of the top 10 welterweight rankings. He has claimed to hang up the gloves if failed to win against Gilbert Burns. It means that the BMF champion has everything on the line at UFC 287.

Gilbert Burns is ranked number five in the UFC’s welterweight division and is 2-1 in his last three. The Brazilian star submitted Neil Magny at UFC 283 in January. He now seems one win or two wins far from calling a title shot. Here’s a look at the complete UFC 287 fight card.
