Paul, the YouTube star-turned pro boxer, took to social media to back Ngannou. “Funny how promoters always try to devalue fighters for their own benefit / narrative,” Paul tweeted. “Francis is the best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world and he deserves to be treated as such.”

It appears that the door has been shut on Francis Ngannou’s potential move to ONE Championship, as CEO Chatri Sityodtong has disclosed that their talks have come to a halt. Despite the former UFC heavyweight champion’s interest in joining the organization, Sityodtong believes that Ngannou may not be adequately prepared to take on the considerable competition in ONE’s heavyweight division.

Sityodtong told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “I like Francis, he brings a lot to the table, but he’ll have a tough time in our heavyweight division, to be frank, which I’ve said publicly.”

With the major MMA organizations apparently unwilling to sign Ngannou at this time, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) could emerge as an option. The PFL features a season format and offers fighters the opportunity to compete in tournaments for million-dollar prizes. The promotion may be willing to meet Ngannou’s asking price in order to add a fighter of his caliber to its roster.

ONE Championship has opted against signing a formidable former UFC champion, preferring instead to focus on bolstering their heavyweight division through other matchups and up-and-coming challengers. As a result, Francis Ngannou’s pursuit of a new fighting home persists, as he remains a free agent without a contract in hand.  Follow InsideSport on GOOGLE NEWS /  For UFC News updates with InsideSport.IN
