Fresh off his own KO victory over Pereira, ‘Izzy’ predicted how his Brazilian rival’s light heavyweight debut shall appear in the UFC. Israel Adesanya took to his YouTube channel and addressed several things related to the UFC.
While talking about Blachowicz vs Pereira, the UFC middleweight champion outlined how Jan Blachowicz’s ground game can play a pivotal role in the matchup.
Israel Adesanya said, “I think Jan [Blachowicz] is going to take him [Alex Pereira] down and just beat him up there.”
“I think Jan will stand with him for a bit but eventually just get him to the fence or try to take him down the way he took me down.”
“I don’t think he [Jan Blachowicz] is going to shoot. He is gonna either get him [Alex Pereira] to the fence.”
Jan Blachowicz and Alex Pereira are the only two fighters to beat Israel Adesanya at the UFC. ‘Izzy’ had an unsuccessful attempt at the 205 lbs title when he fought the then-champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259.
Losing to a decision, Adesanya returned to the 185 lbs division and defended his title several times before getting TKO-ed by Alex Pereira at UFC 281.
Israel Adesanya reclaimed his middleweight belt by knocking out Alex Pereira in a rematch at UFC 287, which urged the Brazilian fighters to move up to 205 lbs. The winner of Jan Blachowicz vs Alex Pereira can get a title shot next.
