Coming back to the original weight class, after having gained weight may be a difficult issue for some fighters, one of the major issue being body recomposition, which means the fighter needs to decrease a desired amount of muscle from the body, while still increasing the amount of fats. Alex’s nutritionist mentions, body compositing is not ideal in any of the circumstances, be it for training or returning back to your original weight class.
But Alex has a great coach who has been taking care of it for the athlete and has put on a 4-week camp off-season period, to ensure that the bulk he had didn’t affect his body negatively. During the beginning of the camp, Alex had a minimum change in his overall muscle mass and fat mass, which enabled him to start his camp for a featherweight to return back to his original weight of 145 in a smooth manner.
