Kevin Lee Eyes to face current champion ahead of his UFC return
Earlier this year, Kevin Lee re-signed a contract with UFC announcing his return to the UFC Octagon. After the dominance in the lightweight division, the The Motown Phenom is waiting to unleash his wrath in the welterweight division.
Recently, Kevin Lee appeared in an exclusive with InsideSport.IN where he spoke on fight plans and past experience in the UFC. During the conversation, he was asked which welterweight fighter from the top 5 he wants to face. Surprisingly, he picked the UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
He said, “Um, obviously, the one that intrigues me the most is Leon, Leon Edwards. You know, he, he’s, he’s a very tricky puzzle, you know, and I think that’s what excites me. I’ve moved around with a lot of guys who have sparred with him who have moved around with him. And they all say he’s very tricky. And I think that that’s the fight that excites me the most, I think I have the size, I think I have the wrestling to give him a very, very good fight.”
Moreover, Lee added he would prove his worth to be a deserving opponent to Leon Edwards after he knocks off Rinat Fakhretdinov at UFC Vegas 76. However, the betting odds are against Lee as the Russian machine Rinat is a heavy favorite to win the bout.
If Kevin Lee is able to solve Rinat Fakhretdinov, he will be eyeing big opponents in the welterweight division including Kamura Usman, Khamzat Chimaev, Gilbert Burns and obviously Leon Edwards.
