Yair Rodriguez was poised to take on Max Holloway in a highly anticipated match on July 17, 2021, at UFC on ESPN 26. However, fate had other plans for the Mexican fighter as his comeback was once again postponed when Holloway pulled out due to an injury. The two fighters finally went head-to-head on November 13, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 197, losing to Holloway via unanimous decision. Despite the loss, Rodriguez’s performance was impressive enough to earn him the Fight of the Night award.
In a bout that took place on May 13, 2017, at UFC 211, Yair Rodríguez faced off against Frankie Edgar. However, the fight did not end in Rodriguez’s favor, as after the second round, the fight was stopped by the doctor due to swelling on his left eye, resulting in a TKO loss for Rodríguez.
Yair Rodriguez suffered his first career defeat on December 20, 2012, when he lost by knockout (punches) to Roberto Herrera at Mexican Fighter Promotions 13.
