Indept Anlysis Of Deiveson Figueiredo’s Victory Over Rob Font
In the first exchanges, Font showed off his sharp striking skills with a deft jab, and Figueiredo appeared a little hesitant to pull the trigger against a little larger and taller bantamweight. Even while Figueiredo started looking for the takedown early on, it wasn’t until late in the first round that he truly displayed his strength when he tagged Font with a number of sharp blows that caused the UFC Austin crowd to erupt in applause.
Font persisted in his pursuit into the second round, but Figueiredo was displaying composure and answering with excellent counterstrikes that were beginning to land on his chin. As the clock was running out, Figueiredo delivered possibly the finest punches of the bout, snapping Font’s head back with a vicious combination.
When Figueiredo opened up against Font, he really began to find his range. He hit the New England native with a flurry of foot blows, including a body shot that left his knees unsteady. When the Brazilian managed to get the battle to the canvas, he went straight to the mount and started pummeling Font with elbows and punches.
Even though Font managed to get back to the guard, Figueiredo continued to punish him by maintaining a relentless tempo from the top. Up until the very end, nothing much changed, as Figueiredo emerged victorious in his first-ever UFC fight at 135 pounds.
With Figueiredo joining the bantamweight ranks, the already potentially deepest division in the UFC has a fresh competitor right away. Figueiredo will be a compelling opponent for any of the competitors now ranked in the top 10 in the world after defeating someone like Font on his first day of competition at 135 pounds.
