Throughout his time as 205-pound champion, Jones defeated Cormier twice; one of those victories was later ruled as no contest when a test for a turinabol metabolite showed positive. In 2016, after defeating Ovince Saint Preux, Jones also tested positive for the estrogen-blocking drugs clomiphene and letrozole. An impartial arbitrator found that Jones did not intentionally cheat in either case.

But even so, Jones’ history of repeated failed drug tests prevents Cormier from calling him the best of all time. He argues that he is not resentful but has always held this opinion.
On his ESPN program “DC & RC,” Cormier remarked, “I think it’s hard to argue the greatest of all time when Jones has now gone up to heavyweight and won the belt because of what he did at light heavyweight.”

Cormier disagrees that Jones is currently the top P4P fighter
Daniel Cormier disputed the UFC’s decision to now rank Jon Jones as the top fighter pound-for-pound. In Cormier’s opinion, he shouldn’t be the top boxer pound-for-pound. “I believe Alexander Volkanovski ought to remain there. I’m not convinced that he should be ranked as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world, but I don’t mind if they did.”
