Dana White On Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic “ Those Two Both Deserve That Fight”

Aspinall might never face Miocic or Jones, the truth is. Dana White, president of the UFC, has given credence to the notion that Jones and Miocic would both decide to retire following their scheduled heavyweight championship match.

CEO of the UFC Dana White has put an end to the notion of postponing Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic.

It was confirmed that Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich will fight for the interim championship at UFC 295 after Dana disclosed that Jones had injured his pectoral tendon, forcing him out of a scheduled UFC heavyweight title defense against Miocic. Pavlovich was left without light for slightly over a minute by Aspinall.

Following the fight, Aspinall expressed his opinion to the media that he ought to immediately challenge Jones for the championship. The newly-crowned interim UFC heavyweight champion stated during the UFC 295 post-fight news conference that he thought the appeal of Jones vs. Miocic had already faded, as per a CBS MMA report Aspinall said:

“I feel like the shine of that fight is kinda gone, I don’t know how anyone else feels about that. But I feel right now, I think you have to make either me and Jones or me and Stipe.”

During his press conference, Dana White was asked whether the UFC executives would consider dropping Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic.

Insidesport

“No,” White said. “You do those two. Those two both deserve that fight. That’s the fight they want. What I love is that Jon Jones, as soon as he heard that he was injured and he knew how bad it was, went right to LA, got the surgery and he’s already in rehab, physical therapy I should say.”

Aspinall might never face Miocic or Jones, the truth is. Dana White, president of the UFC, has given credence to the notion that Jones and Miocic would both decide to retire following their scheduled heavyweight championship match. It is more likely that Aspinall will defend the interim championship or advance to the undisputed champ position than that he will face Jones. Although Englishman and third UFC champion Ciryl Gane has declared his intention to challenge Aspinall, he believes a championship eliminator should be held first.
