Conor McGregor’s Firm Makes 70-Year-Old Family To Quit Business By Tripling Rent

The UFC star is unlikely to issue a formal statement because he rarely gets involved in the finer points of his business empire.

When operating for more than 70 years, a renowned Dublin barbershop recently announced that it would close its doors permanently when its landlord, Jemi Ventures, a unit of the Conor McGregor business conglomerate, quadrupled the rent.

On September 30, Roches Barbers will formally close its doors. The store is housed in the same structure as McGregor’s renowned Black Forge Inn tavern on Crumlin Road. The store had been in operation for seven decades and was well-known in the neighbourhood for being a landmark.

The Independent claims that Jemi Ventures alerted the business owners of a rent increase from €500 to €1500 per month. The Roche family, unable to pay such high prices, placed a sign outside the barbershop’s doors that read:

“It’s time to say goodbye… After 71 incredible years, we will be closing our doors for the final time on September 30th at 5.15 pm. The Roche family and the shop team would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped to make this barber shop a success.”

Insidesport

Conor McGregor has not yet responded to the circumstance. The UFC star is unlikely to issue a formal statement because he rarely gets involved in the finer points of his business empire.

Even though the Irishman has had an unrivalled impact on MMA, the last few years haven’t been kind to him. He broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, which prevented him from competing in the octagon until July 2021. While it was anticipated that he would face Michael Chandler again this year, his resistance to signing up for USADA testing has proven to be a big roadblock.
