The Notorious then fought Eddie Alvarez for the Lightweight championship, which he ultimately won, and made him the first-ever UFC champion of two divisions. After that, he paused working with the company for more than a year, which led to the promotion to strip his championship when he was engaged in a fight with the legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather.

After the fight, when he returned to the UFC, he attempted to return and challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for his championship, but he was unsuccessful. Meanwhile, as he has indicated, he will return in 2023, we might see him capture and defend it during this reign.
