Conor McGregor had set his sights on a UFC comeback against Michael Chandler in December, but this plan fell through due to his failure to rejoin the USADA testing pool in a timely manner. However, the celebrated MMA superstar from Ireland dropped a significant hint regarding his return when he shared a post on Instagram mentioning that he has submitted the necessary paperwork to a top UFC authority. This suggests that McGregor’s comeback might be in the works. Let’s delve deeper to unravel the details.
Conor McGregor hinted about his return
The Irishman appears to be in the process of rejoining the USADA testing pool, according to a recent post on his Instagram. He mentioned submitting the necessary documentation to Jeff Novitsky, indicating that progress is underway in getting back into the testing program. In his recent post where he is training he captioned it saying, “Submitted my stuff to (Jeff) Novitsky. Ball rolling.”
For those unfamiliar, Novitsky holds the position of Senior Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance at the UFC. He is responsible for reviewing the paperwork of fighters. McGregor’s recent indication of submitting his paperwork strongly suggests that he is taking steps to potentially reenter the USADA drug testing pool.
Since suffering a leg injury during his UFC bout with Dustin Poirier in July 2021, McGregor has been sidelined from competition. Despite this, he made an appearance in the company as a coach on TUF 31, facing off against Michael Chandler, where he faced a significant defeat. After which it was reported, McGregor will make a comeback and fight against Chandler.
