Not to be forgotten, Conor McGregor and Canelo Alvarez are two of the biggest draws in combat sports today and they both have lost against Floyd Mayweather at some point in their careers, respectively.
Although Canelo Alvarez shall remain a favorite to beat McGregor in boxing, the UFC star seemed quite confident about his chances and detailed how his southpaw stance can play a pivotal role.
In a recent media interaction alongside Matchroom Kingpin Eddie Hearn, Conor McGregor said, “I am a southpaw. John [Ryder] was a southpaw, Billy Joe was a southpaw. I have seen methods. I have seen things.”
“I would fight Canelo. No f*** problem, yeah. “
Canelo Alvarez has recently defended his undisputed super middleweight titles against John Ryder via decision. He is now 2-0 since suffering his second professional defeat against Dmitry Bivol in May 2022.
Canelo has verbally agreed to re-matching Bivol at 175 lbs next. Meanwhile, Conor McGregor will make his UFC comeback against Michael Chandler after the end of TUFF 31.
There’s no way Conor McGregor and Canelo Alvarez would cross paths anytime soon. However, it will be unfair to write away their chances of fighting in the near future.
