Francis Ngannou is currently preparing for his second heavyweight title defense. It’s been almost a year since he defended the heavyweight strap against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270. Despite being demeaned by several MMA pundits, Ngannou outclassed a veteran Gane and won via unanimous decision. He is now being pitched to face former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who is aiming at a heavyweight debut.

Is Jon Jones next for UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou?

Jon Jones has been out of action since UFC 247 in February 2020. After beating Dominick Reyes, ‘Bones’ left the light heavyweight division and teased his heavyweight entry. Stipe Miocic was the champion back then. With Francis Ngannou knocking out Miocic, Jones was seen as a potential opponent for ‘The Predator’.

That said, Jon Jones is yet to announce his next move officially. Excluding Jones, Ciryl Gane and Stipe Miocic are currently the number one and number two-ranked heavyweights in the UFC, respectively,

Hence, we can also see them compete against Francis Ngannou. The UFC heavyweight champion currently stands 1-0 over Gane and is 1-1 with former champion Miocic in the promotion.
