‘Funkmaster’ seems optimistic about having his hands raised against ‘Sugar’. Moreover, he seems eager to prove himself as a higher-level fighter than Sean O’Malley.

In a recent chat with TMZ, Aljamain Sterling confirmed that he is willing to move up to 145 lbs and face featherweight UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski but only after dominating O’Malley.

Sterling said, “I think [it could be my last at 135]. I think I go out there, dominate O’Malley the way I think I’m gonna dominate him, send that naked mole rat back to wherever he’s from, the hole he crawled out of,”

He added, “We set our sights on Volkanovski. Go up to 145, cause some terror there. Win the belt, become champ-champ, and then from there, possibly defend the belt one or two times and maybe that’s all she wrote for the MMA career.”

Fresh off his win over Yair Rodriguez, Alexander Volkanovski is now considered the greatest pound for pound fighter by many people. It remains to be seen how a potential fight between him and Aljamain Sterling plays out.

Meanwhile, Sterling shouldn’t sleep on his next opponent Sean O’Malley. Other than Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera, no other fighter has beaten O’Malley officially. So, Sterling may have a tough night against him.

UFC 292 will feature two title fights. In the co-main event, Weili Zhang will put the UFC women’s strawweight title at stake against Amanda Lemos. Here’s a look at the full fight card.
