UFC: Why Did Conor McGregor Lose His Spot from Forbes List of Highest Paid Athletes This Year?

In 2021, Forbes released its list of Highest-Paid Athlete featuring Conor McGregor on No.1 spot. As per the list, the former UFC Champion was the highest athlete in the world earning a total of $180 million. His annual salary was around $22 million, with brand endorsements worth $158 million. This was the first time a UFC Fighter was listed on the top spot earning millions per year. He was also estimated to earn more in the following years. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen as he didn’t even rank in the top 50 in Forbes 2023 list.

The real reason behind McGregor not being listed on the Forbes list this year was due to inactivity. The 34-year-old is inactive in the UFC octagon since 2021 after a tragic incident during his fight. In July 2021, McGregor fought Dustin Poirier in their 3rd encounter. During the fight, Conor McGregor’s left leg got badly injured, resulted in a twisted ankle. As a result, the Notorious has not returned to UFC since then and eventually UFC also removed Conor McGregor from the active fighter list.

Moreover, his whisky brand, Proper Twelve, is one of the biggest whisky companies in the world which earns millions of money.

Soon, the former UFC Champion will make his return to the UFC this year. Eevntually, fans can expect Conor McGregor in the Forbes List back next year.
