In the Fight Capital of the World, UFC will host its final event of 2023, featuring the highly anticipated welterweight championship with UFC 296 match between Leon Edwards and No. 2 ranked challenger Colby Covington in Las Vegas. Also, newly crowned flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja defends his title against No. 4 contender Brandon Royval in a rematch.

Edwards (21-3 1NC, competing out of Birmingham, England) hopes to build on his victory over former titleholder Kamaru Usman in their trilogy match. He now has a 12-fight winning run and boasts impressive wins over Nate Diaz, Rafael Dos Anjos, and Gunnar Nelson. Edwards now wants to solidify his position as the world’s best welterweight.

Covington (17-3, competing out of Miami, Florida) makes a comeback after defeating fiery opponent Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision. He is an NCAA Division I All-American and has won important matches against Rafael Dos Anjos, Tyron Woodley, and Robbie Lawler. Covington is now intent on decisively putting an end to Edwards.
The main card of UFC 296: EDWARDS vs. COVINGTON airs on ESPN+ PPV on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. It takes place at T-Mobile Arena. At 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, the prelims will be broadcast on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ in both English and Spanish. The early prelims will begin on ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, and action will continue on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
