Paulo Costa has revealed that he has come to a new agreement with the UFC after being sidelined for nearly a year over a salary dispute. The No. 5 middleweight declined the chance to compete against Robert Whittaker at UFC 284. He indicated his wish to leave the organization because of what he believed to be unfair pay.

The middleweight fighter also revealed that he is in talks with UFC to take on either Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi in October or Sean Strickland in May. Paulo Costa declared that he wanted to engage in combat with both opponents during the term of his new contract. He stated: “I agree; I want it. I want both events to occur, whereas [the UFC] is determined to make the Chimaev bout happen at all costs. We shall see.”
