Conor McGregor backed to beat Chandler by Dustin Poirier
The former UFC two-weight champion has yet to announce a return date as he rehabilitates from a catastrophic leg injury he sustained in July 2021. Additionally, no opponent has been named, although lightweight contender Chandler has repeatedly lobbied for a matchup with McGregor.
Poirier, who has faced and defeated both McGregor and Chandler, asserted to Bloody Elbow that Chandler would lose in an octagon duel to the Irishman. “I’d choose Conor. Conor’s timing makes me believe Chandler is very hittable,” Poirier remarked. “With the layoff, too, we’ll see. may play a significant role for Conor. Conor would still be my choice in this scenario, though. Chandler is a target. He is shorter than Conor. Chandler eases off. He will slow down, move closer to Conor, and be more open to being touched if he wrestles heavily to avoid striking with Conor.”
“If the fight occurs, I’d wager on Conor. No, I can’t; I can’t wager. I can’t wager on MMA.”
