UFC News: Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski gets confirmed- Date and Venue revealed: Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski are ready to throw hands on each other for the ‘P4P No.1’ status on February 11, 2023, at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia. UFC’s social media handle confirmed the news, sending several fans into a frenzy.

The fight came to fruition after Islam Makhachev vanquished Charles Oliveira via submission at UFC 280. Alexander Volkanovski saw it happen from the cage side. Post-fight, the two confronted inside the UFC octagon and teased about locking horns against each other. It seems they didn’t take much time, as the fight is already on board.

Islam Makhachev is currently on an 11-fight win streak. The lightweight champion holds the number 2 spot in the men’s P4P rankings just a step below Alexander Volkanovski. That said, Volkanovski is unbeaten in the UFC with a staggering run of 12-0. After snatching the featherweight crown from Max Holloway at UFC 245, ‘The Great’ Volkanovski has successfully defended his title four times.

Conor McGregor became the first UFC fighter to hold world titles in two divisions (featherweight and lightweight) simultaneously after he knocked out Eddie Alvarez for the 155lbs belt in 2016. The UFC 284 main-event- Makhachev vs. Volkanovski will however, be held for the former’s lightweight title.
