UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs Holland: Francis Ngannou, Justin Gaethje, Ciryl Gane, Dustin Poirier, and other UFC fighters react to UFC OrlandoAfter losing consecutive decisions to Gilbert Burns and Belal Muhammad, Thompson (17-6-1 MMA) entered the fight hoping to bounce back. The former two-time welterweight title challenger defeated Vicente Luque and Geoff Neal before both defeats.
After going four rounds with the two-time welterweight championship challenger at UFC Orlando, Kevin Holland can speak to Stephen Thompson’s ability to defeat younger opponents even at 39.
After suffering hundreds of acrobatic kicks to his torso and dome, Holland clung on for as long as he could. At the end of the fourth round, his corner made the correct judgment that physics eventually got in the way, and he could not continue.
A hand injury precipitated Holland’s demise, but for Thompson, it further confirmed that, even at 170 pounds, he is still a very dangerous opponent.

Shout out to hollands corner. I think they made the right call. No fighter wants that to happen, but sometimes you need your coaches to save you from yourself. He was taking major damage in there. What a great show by both men! Congrats @WonderboyMMA on a great win! #UFCOrlando
