Jan Blachowicz vs Alex Pereira Will Be for Light Heavyweight Belt At UFC 291, Fans React- “Lucky”

This past Friday, Hill, a former contestant on Dana White’s Contender Series, announced that he had to give up the undisputed UFC light heavyweight title for the second time in a year due to a ruptured achilles tendon sustained during a basketball game during International Fight Week.

This led the UFC fans to call Jan Balchowiz the lucky fighter, making it his second time to get a title fight without having to fight his opponents as they vacated the belt themselves.

Following recent circumstances, it’s possible that his next fight will be for a different vacant title in the same division. Alex Pereira, a newcomer to mixed martial arts (MMA), will be his opponent this time.

The 205-pound weight division was left without a champion after Jamahal Hill shocked UFC fans by revealing his intention to give up his divisional title due to a significant Achilles tendon injury earlier today. At UFC 291, the promotion could crown one.

Fans have advocated for a vacant title fight between the aforementioned Jan Blachowicz and Alex Pereira, who are scheduled to co-headline UFC 291 at the end of the month. Reporters have also suggested a championship matchup between the two appears to suit the bill.

The light heavyweight class is in dire need of credibility, stability, and most importantly, a cause for fans to support it. If the UFC classifies their UFC 291 match as a title battle, then former middleweight champion Alex Pereira, who earned the belt by defeating Jan Bachowicz, might provide that justification.

If Alex Pereira defeats Dricus du Plessis later this year, it might lead to an eagerly awaited showdown with Israel Adesanya.
