The streaking heavyweight contender Sergei Pavlovich brutally dispatched Curtis Blaydes via TKO (punches) earlier tonight (Saturday, April 22, 2023) at UFC Vegas 71 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

First-time loser Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs) stated of the KO: “He just caught me with a good shot and I couldn’t recover.”

When “King Ry” swung and missed with a left hook and “Tank” followed up with a left hook, Garcia was knocked down by Davis (29-0, 27 KOs).

In a 136-pound catchweight fight that was preceded by months of trash talk and excitement, Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) marked his presence as one of boxing’s top fighters pound-for-pound, with that one left punch.

At 1 minute and 44 seconds into Round 7, referee Thomas Taylor reached the count of 10. While Ryan was still on one knee trying to catch his breath. The most anticipated boxing battle in years ended with Davis’ victory witnessed by around 20,842 spectators at the packed T-Mobile Arena.

It’s difficult to pinpoint the turning point in Sergei Pavlovich’s record-breaking sixth first-round knockout of Curtis Blaydes on Saturday at UFC Vegas 71’s main event, Apex in Las Vegas, in a crucial heavyweight contest.

The opening bell ringing is probably the best bet as to when it occurred.

Blaydes was pummelling by Pavlovich, who entered the contest ranked No. 3 in the heavyweight division, one slot ahead of him. Blaydes was knocked out by strikes at 3:08 in the first round. Pavlovich fired 36 rounds at Blaydes, almost all of them hard, thudding, and damaging. He almost never missed.

The 30-year-old Pavlovich has now prevailed in six of his most recent Octagon bouts through first-round knockout. That breaks the previous record, which was held by Pavlovich at five.
