That said, they also became two of the most polarizing figures in the UFC roster as both men are aiming for their respective returns this year. During the UFC 285 media day, Jon Jones shed his views on how Conor McGregor’s return is going to benefit the entire MMA community.

When asked about Conor McGregor coming back against Michael Chandler, Jon Jones said, “There’s only one Conor McGregor. I love Conor. I love what he represents. Man, he is big. He is big, he has a gigantic brand. Some senses he is just as big as our sport, you know. And it’s gonna be great, it’s gonna be great when he comes back.”

“He is going to bring a whole new energy, even more fans. It’s great for all of us, it’s great for the sponsors, it’s great for the UFC. I wish Conor all the best. I love the way he is living his life. I never thought in my time I would see a MMA fighter with a Ferrari (Lamborghini actually) yacht. I am so proud of him. It opens doors for all of us.”

Conor McGregor was last seen in 2021 when he suffered consecutive losses against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 and UFC 264. After snapping his ankle at UFC 264, McGregor was handed a doctor stoppage defeat when he vowed to compete against Poirier for a fourth time.

However, Conor McGregor sees to have moved on from that and is now focused on defeating Michael Chandler on his return. That said, McGregor and Chandler will primarily collide as coaches in the upcoming TUFC 31 season. The shooting has already begun and the premiere of TUFC 31 is expected to hit the screens in May.
