The bottom team from groups in Leagues A and B are relegated, with two League C teams to be relegated via the playoffs in early 2023. There is no relegation from League D, with all 55 UEFA nations participating every year. France are the defending champions of the tournament but will miss out on the Finals this year.
We take a look at the biggest teams who have been relegated to League B this campaign:
England
England, who reached the Euro 2020 final have been suffering during this season’s Nations League campaign. Their group included two giants in Germany and Italy with Hungary making up a ‘Group of Death’ of sorts. However, Gareth Southgate and his men were stunned by minnows Hungary both home and away, including a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Magyars.

In their last fixture, England were once again beaten by Italy 1-0, putting an end to their hopes of staying in League A. Now, they will move to League B knowing that they have massively underachieved this season. Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain could be potential opponents in qualifiers for Euro 2024, with the Three Lions set to face an important few months ahead of the World Cup.

Wales
Wales lost to Poland in their last match putting an end to their UEFA Nations League campaign. However, the Welsh will not be entirely disappointed after qualifying for their first and only World Cup since 1958.
Wales are guaranteed to be in pot two for the Euro 2024 qualifying draw, facing one team – both home and away. The likes of Aaron Ramsey, Harry Wilson, and Ben Davies were missing significantly this campaign but will aim to return in time for their first World Cup against USA.

Former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick had a debut to remember with a 3-0 win against Croatia. However, since then the team has failed to maintain any consistency losing three of his last four games in-charge.
The team will also not feature at the World Cup, which will give Rangnick more time to ponder as they move to League B next season. With Austria falling in Pot 2, they are expected to face tough contenders (including England) in the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League campaign.
Austria and Wales join England as they get relegated from the UEFA Nations League A while Israel and Bosnia and Herzegovina get promoted to League A! 👏
