Rohit Sharma is one of the most senior-most members of the squad having made his debut for India back in 2007. The Mumbai Indians captain was part of India’s U-19 World Cup squad in 2006 and has been one of the stalwarts of Indian cricket over the last decade. Sharma is closing in 10,000 runs in ODIs and was newly installed as the captain of the limited-overs side, while promoted to vice-captain in the longest format of the game.
While Rohit continues his rehabilitation, on the other hand, Virat Kohli-led Indian red-ball squad is in Johannesburg, South Africa to lock horns with Proteas in the three-match Test series. India and South Africa will lock horns in the Test series which gets underway from December 26.
