‘Trouble follows me, I don’t like to make friends’ Prithvi Shaw reacts to controversies

Prithvi Shaw is eyeing to make a comeback to the Indian team by having a good County stint with Northamptonshire

Prithvi Shaw: For the past few months, controversies and Prithvi Shaw are going hand in hand. Worst, the youngster’s off-field issues have had its bearing on the on-field as well as he has been dropped from the West Indies squad in the white-ball formats as well as the Asian Games 2023 squad. Shaw has opened up about the recent controversies and feels wherever he goes, trouble follows him. The 22-year-old also said he enjoys spending time alone and has very few friends.

“People say a lot of things about me. But those who know me know how I am. I don’t have friends, I don’t like to make friends,” Shaw tells Wisden India and Cricbuzz. “This is what’s happening in this generation. You can’t share your thoughts with anyone else.”

In this age of social media, the former under-19 captain also stated that there is no such thing called best friends. Shaw feels whatever he says to friends also can become a huge controversy.

“I feel the concept of best friend has been created by us. ‘He’s my best friend’. Friends are fine, but there are no best friends as such. I also have, I am also a friend, but best friend – you won’t share everything with them. You won’t give your ATM pin to them, right? They say ‘best friend is the one who shares everything’. We can’t share all this, no?”

Prithvi Shaw: Shaw focuses on County stint with Northamptonshire, says it would be a fresh start

Shaw is eyeing a fresh start by playing County Cricket n Northamptonshire. The right-hand opening loves playing in England and said is going there and playing cricket since the age of 12. The Delhi Capitals batter says that he is optimistic that something nice would happen by playing County Cricket.

“I just want to take it as any other game. It’s just like the first-class games we play here. Nothing huge, just a different experience. Getting an invitation from there means a lot. It’s the same – I’ll have to go there and score runs for the team because that’s what they are expecting from me. Obviously, they have seen me perform and that’s why they have called me there. There might be something they think I’m capable of doing. I think I’ll have a great time,” Shaw added.
