At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Oliver Skipp scored the game’s first goal just seconds into the second half, and Harry Kane added a late goal with a tap-in to extend Chelsea’s losing streak to six games. Just before the first half’s conclusion, a poor first half erupted into controversy when Hakim Ziyech was dismissed for fighting Emerson Royal. Ziyech was given a red card after it was determined that he had struck Royal in the face, but referee Stuart Attwell changed the red to a yellow after looking at the monitor.

With Skipp’s first-ever Spurs goal opening the scoring in dramatic fashion 19 seconds into the second half, the first half’s eventful conclusion was matched by the second half’s equally tumultuous beginning. Just after kicking off, the home team advanced, and Royal tested Kepa with a low strike. Enzo Fernandez’s errant save was only partially cleared by Skipp outside the area, whose piledriver was palmed into the net by the Chelsea goalie and into the crossbar.

To stop Kai Havertz for Spurs midway in the second half, substitute goalkeeper Fraser Forster had to make a deft save. Eight minutes from time, Kane secured the victory with a tap-in at the far post in response to Eric Dier’s flicked header. Stellini told the BBC that Conte would likely return this week. While Spurs go four points clear of fifth-placed Newcastle in the Premier League standings, Chelsea remains in tenth position, ahead of Aston Villa on goal differential alone.
