The 23-year-old threw a gigantic 87.58m to clinch the gold and become India’s second individual gold medallist after Abhinav Bindra in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Chopra displayed one of India’s finest performances in Olympics history to clinch the first gold medal in athletics, and the first medal in track and field events since Norman Pritchard’s twin silvers in 1900.
