The 23-year-old kept India’s hopes of an elusive Olympic medal from track and field events alive by earning direct qualification into the finals with a stunning throw of 86.65m, which was the best of the lot among both the groups and he will certainly be a medal favorite for the finals. Should Neeraj Chopra clinch a podium, it will be India’s first medal in track and field events since Norman Pritchard won two silvers during the 1900 Olympics.
