Chilean Taekwondo player Fernanda Aguirre, Dutch skateboarder Candy Jacobs and Czech TT player Pavel Sirucek were on Wednesday forced to withdraw from their respective events and placed in quarantine. Other than this World No. 1 British shooter Amber Hill also tested positive and withdrew from the competition. Even before the Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony almost 75 people connected with the games have already tested positive.

- Tokyo Olympics: Two Olympic athletes test positive for COVID-19- Tokyo 2020 Olympic organizers said on Thursday two athletes residing in the Olympic village tested positive for COVID-19. The organizers announced 12 new positive cases overall, including the two athletes, bringing the total to 87.

- Czech beach volleyball trainer Simon Nausch has tested positive
for COVID-19, the Czech Olympic team said on Tuesday. Nausch is the third member of the Czech delegation to be confirmed with the virus. On Monday, beach volleyball player Ondrej Perusic recorded a positive test. Nausch and Perusic have both left the Olympic village to isolate themselves, their team said. - The tally also included an Olympic volunteer for the first time since the committee started compiling figures on July 1, bringing the total number of games-related infections to 67, three days out from the opening ceremony.
- Meanwhile, organizers revealed that of the 21 members of the South African men’s soccer team who were identified as close contacts, three were exempt from self-quarantine after further case investigation and contact tracing.
- Elsewhere, two Mexican baseball players tested positive for COVID-19 before departing for Tokyo, Mexican baseball authorities said Monday. The team, which faces host Japan on July 31, still plans to fly to Tokyo.
Tokyo Olympics LIVE: As per Kyodo News, eight more people related to the Tokyo Olympics have also tested positive for the coronavirus. Earlier, a female gymnast from the United States tested positive for COVID-19 at her pre-Tokyo Olympic training camp. The athlete was training in the city of Inzai, Chiba Prefecture ahead of the opening of the Tokyo Olympics, as per Kyodo News.
The name of the athlete has not been revealed as of now but it is being reported that the female gymnast is a teenager. Earlier on Monday, the Czech Republic’s beach volleyball player Ondrej Perusic came out COVID-19 positive ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Ondrej is currently asymptomatic and is in isolation according to the rules.
This was the second case in the Czech team after an official was revealed to be COVID positive (by a test) after the contingent’s arrival at the airport.

Tokyo Olympics LIVE: On Sunday, eight members of Great Britain’s Olympic team entered isolation after coming into contact with a COVID-19 positive person on their flight to the Tokyo Games.
The six athletes and two members of support staff had tested negative before departing for Tokyo and upon arrival, but now they have identified as a close contact of an infected person who was with them on the flight, reported Sky News.

However, the member who had tested positive for COVID-19 is not a member of Team Great Britain, clarified the British Olympic Association. Three members of South Africa’s men’s under-23 football team have also tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently in isolation in the Tokyo 2020 facility.
