Tim Paine sexting scandal: Tim Paine’s career all but over after indefinite ‘leave of absence’ before Ashes

The ASHES – Tim Paine ‘Indefinite Leave’: The move could all but signal the end of Tim Paine’s career, and Australia will be scrambling for options, as Paine was the sole designated wicketkeeper in their squad. As per Australian media reports, Paine is unlikely to play Test cricket for Australia in the future as he continues to deal with the sexting scandal that has rocked Australian cricket.

What exactly happened?

  • Paine was meant to bat at No.3 for Tasmania in the One-Day Cup on Friday before flying to Brisbane on Saturday to prepare for the first Ashes Test.
  • However, the veteran keeper threw in a bombshell, taking a leave of absence, therefore ruling him of the Gabba Test starting on December 8.
  • As per Fox Sports, Paine’s manager said that the ex-Australian captain is extremely concerned for both the wicketkeeper’s welfare and that of his wife, Bonnie.

The decision has come despite the Australian squad throwing their weight behind the Tasmania-born cricketer, and his decision has left everyone in shock.
