The Hundred: Big setback, Two players from Northern Superchargers Test COVID-19 positive
What comes as a big shock to The Hundred, a couple of players from Northern Superchargers men’s squad have tested positive for COVID-19. The names are yet to be revealed by the franchise. The players will undergo RT-PCR Test after testing positive in lateral flow test.

“The NSC men’s team have had two players test positive via lateral flow tests and we are awaiting PCR results. At this stage, no other players have been affected,” a Superchargers spokesperson said as quoted by Cricbuzz.
The Hundred Earlier, Trent Rockets head coach Andy Flower and other members had tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, London Spirit Coach Shane Warne is self-isolating after testing positive.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, Superchargers’ women’s captain Lauren Winfield-Hill said players in The Hundred are tested every day.
“We have to record our lateral flow result by 9.30am every morning, so it is a rigid procedure,” said Winfield-Hill.
“You cannot turn up to training unless you have completed it by 9.30am. It’s the way of the world at the moment. You don’t enjoy it but it’s become the norm,” she added.
The Northern superchargers will next face Manchester Originals. They will then face Birmingham Phoenix on August 17. The franchise currently ranks sixth in the points table with just two wins in six matches and are unlikely to progress into the knockout stages.
The winner of the group stage will directly enter the final at Lord’s on August 21. The other two teams will compete in the eliminator.
