Earlier, Kidambi Srikanth ended his campaign at Thailand Open after withdrawing from the second round at Thailand Open. Meanwhile, Malavika Bansod lost her second round contest after going down in three sets against enmark’s Line Christophersen.

Bhatnagar-Crasto [IND] lost to Goh-Lai [MAL] – 19-21, 20-22
All the three players made a winning start to their campaign as Srikanth defeated Brice Leverdez in three sets with a come-from-behind 18-21, 21-10, 21-16 victory. Sindhu too prevailed in a very close encounter that could have gone wither way as she won 19-21, 21-17, 18-21 against qualifier Lauren Lam. Malavika Bansod defeated Mariia Ulitina in three sets to enter the second round.
Srikanth will take on Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen in the second round, while Sindhu will be up against South Korea’s Sim Yu-jin. Malavika Bansod will face Denmark’s Line Christophersen.

Kidambi Srikanth, who was chasing his maiden title this year gave a walkover to his opponent Nhat Nguyen in the second round of the Thailand Open. The reason for his withdrawal is not yet known.

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu beats Yu Jin Sim of South Korea in straight games in the second round match of the Thailand Open. The sixth seed Sindhu won the opening game 21-16 where the Korean did put fight but in the second game Sindhu dominated and won by a comfortable margin of 21-13 winning match 21-16 21-13 that lasted for 37 minutes.
With this win the double Olympic medallist sets up a quarterfinal clash with second-seeded Japanese shuttler Akane Yamaguchi.

Upcoming 20-year old shuttler Malavika Bansod lost to World No.22 Line Christophersen of Denmark 21-16, 14-21, 14-21 in the second round of Thailand Open. Bansod gave a tough fight as she won the first set 21-16. She however lost steam after that as Christophersen won the next two sets 21-14, 21-14 to qualifiy for the quarterfinals.
