Wimbledon 2024, the prestigious grasscourt Grand Slam, runs from July 1 to 14 at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London. In 2024, India will have four representatives at Wimbledon, providing a perfect stage as they prepare for the Paris Olympics starting on July 26. Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden, seeded second, will face Adrian Mannarino and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the opening round of men’s doubles.

Rohan Boppanna go up against French duo in Wimbledon 2024

Rohan Bopanna will compete in his 14th Wimbledon main draw, seeking his first title on the iconic grass courts. In 2017, Bopanna won his first Major title in mixed doubles at the French Open. Earlier this year, Bopanna and his Australian partner, Matthew Ebden, won the Australian Open men’s doubles. They aim to surpass last year’s semifinal finish at Wimbledon. In the first round, Bopanna and Ebden will face the unranked French duo of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Adrian Mannarino.

Sumit Nagal, Sriram Balajim Yuki Bhambri look to make strides in Wimbledon 2024

India’s top-ranked men’s singles player, Sumit Nagal, will debut in Wimbledon’s main draw. Nagal will compete in both men’s singles and men’s doubles, paired with Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic. Recently, Nagal qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024 by winning the ATP Challenger title in Heilbronn, Germany. He is the first Indian in five years to qualify for Wimbledon’s men’s singles. Nagal will face Croatia’s Miomir Kecmanović in the first round of men’s singles and will pair with Lajovic against the experienced duo of Spain’s Pedro Martinez and Jaume Munar.

Sriram Balaji, who will be Bopanna’s doubles partner at the Paris Olympics, will make his second Wimbledon main draw appearance. Balaji, who reached the second round in 2018, will compete in men’s doubles with local player Luke Johnson. The duo will face Mate Pavic and Marcelo Arevalo, the fourth-seeded Croatian-Salvadorian pair who won the French Open this year.

Yuki Bhambri, making his second Wimbledon main draw appearance, previously played in men’s singles in 2018. This year, Bhambri pairs with France’s Albano Olivetti in men’s doubles and will face the Kazakh pairing of Bublik and Alexander Shevchenko.
