Rohan Bopanna has exited the French Open following a three-set defeat at the hands of the 11th seeds, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. Partnering up with Matt Ebden, the second seed got off to a great start. He led the Italian duo 4-1 in the first set but eventually lost it 7-5.
Bopanna and Ebden got the second set, breaking Bolelli and Vavassori twice and leveling things up. However, the last set was the complete opposite, as the second seed was broken twice to lose 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.
Rohan Bopanna to focus on Olympics
This loss will sting Bopanna a bit, but he’ll take much more confidence from a semifinal run at the French Open. Before coming to Paris, he had a 2-3 record on clay. But, come the big stage, he upped his game and was not far away from making it to the final. Now, he’ll focus on teaming up with N Sriram Balaji for the Olympics at the very same venue in late July.
