There is no stopping Novak Djokovic in Australia. After a shaky start against Taylor Fritz in the Australian Open 2024 quarterfinal, the 10-time champion has moved to his 11th Australian Open semifinal. Despite firing on all cylinders, Fritz was no match for Djokovic in the last two sets, winning just five games.
Coming into the quarterfinal off the back of his first-ever top-10 win at a Grand Slam, Fritz took the challenge to Novak Djokovic. He took him to a tiebreaker in the first set, eventually losing it, and then claimed the second set 6-4 to level things up.
With the match equally poised, Novak Djokovic showed his experience. He took control of the match, dominating Fritz while serving and returning. With Fritz playing at his best level, Djokovic navigated through the final two sets as someone who’s done it hundreds of times.
At 36, Novak Djokovic is as fit as a fiddle and is arguably the most mentally tough tennis player of all time. On his quest for a 25th Grand Slam title, Djokovic will face either 4th seed Jannik Sinner or 5th seed Andrey Rublev in the semifinals on January 26 to reach his 11th Australian Open Final.
