India vs Pakistan Davis Cup tie starts in Islamabad on Saturday, and it is beyond doubt that veteran Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi will be the most important player for the hosts, even at 43. No wonder, the Pakistani star is motivated by the rise of India’s Rohan Bopanna, who won his first Wimbledon just recently, becoming the oldest player to do so.
In fact, Bopanna and Aisam go back a long way and had reached the final of the 2010 US Open as well. “Becoming world number one and winning the Australian Open is a massive achievement and in a way it motivates me as well and inspires a lot of people,” Aisam was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
“I feel very proud of him, obviously I started my doubles career with him and we made a breakthrough together,” adding their, “friendship will remain forever”.
Meanwhile, it was only last year that Bopanna announced his retirement from Davis Cup.
