Revealed! Rohan Bopanna-Matt Ebden to start their AO 2024 campaign against Aussie wildcards

Revealed! Rohan Bopanna-Matt Ebden to start their AO 2024 campaign against Aussie wildcards

Bopanna and Ebden suffered a first-round exit at the Australian Open last year against unseeded Austrian opponents.

The men’s doubles draw at the Australian Open 2024 is out, and second seeds Rohan Bopanna and his partner Matt Ebden are set to have Australian wildcards in their opening round.

The US Open finalists will kick off their campaign against wildcards James Duckworth and Marc Polmans. The match-up won’t be easy for Bopanna and Edben, or the Australian crowd. Much like Duckworth and Polmans, Ebden is also an Australian, so the crowd will be torn between which team to cheer for him.

However, Rohan Bopanna and Matt Ebden will be ready for the challenge. The dynamic duo have started the year well after making the final of the Adelaide International last week. Although they ended up losing the final, winning three matches, including a tight three-setter, is an apt preparation for the Australian Open 2024.

The second seeds have a relatively easy couple of rounds. If they go through their first-round opponents, they’ll either face an Aussie duo in Millman and Winter or experienced campaigners in Daniell and Demoliner.

However, things will amp up from there. They’ll have to go through the 14th and 6th seeds to set up an encounter against their nemesis, Ram and Salisbury, in the semis. If they manage to beat their three seeded opponents, they’ll have world no. 1 Dodig and Krajicek in the final.

1st Round: James Duckworth and Marc Polmans

2nd Round: John Millman and Edward Winter/Marcus Daniell and Marcelo Demoliner

3rd Round: Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektić [14]

Quarterfinal: Máximo González and Andrés Molteni [6]

Semifinal: Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury [3]

Final: Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek [1]
