Australian Open Quarterfinals set! Djokovic & Alcaraz to headline action

Eight of the top 12 seeds have made it to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open 2024.

The Australian Open 2024 quarterfinals are set! After nearly two weeks of action-packed tennis, we have the final 8. In the reckoning for the title are the usual suspects: 10-time champion Novak Djokovic, reigning Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz, and former world number one Daniil Medvedev.

However, it isn’t just the top three seeds who have made it through to the quarterfinals. Fourth seed Jannik Sinner has been in red-hot form since late last year and made it through without dropping a set. Defeating last year’s finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas, Taylor Fritz has also made it to the final 8.

After surviving tough matches, both Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev have made it as well, while Alexander Zverev continues to fight on the court as well as off it.

Defending champ Djokovic will face a familiar foe in 12th seed Taylor Fritz. The two played an epic 5-setter in Australia three years ago and saw the Serb win. After surviving two tough five-setters, Rublev will face Sinner, who has yet to drop a set at the Australian Open 2024.

Two-time Australian Open finalist Medvedev will face the best server in the tournament, Hurkacz, in the quarters, while Alcaraz goes against Zverev, against whom he has an unfavorable 3-4 losing record.
