Team India Coach – Rahul Dravid Not Interested: Former India captain Rahul Dravid will not be the Indian team’s next coach. It was being tipped that Dravid will take over as coach of the Indian team after Ravi Shastri’s tenure ends in November this year. But InsideSport.co has learnt from its sources in the BCCI that Dravid has made it clear to the board that he is not interested in the job. According to the information available, Dravid has told BCCI that he would like to continue in his role at NCA and will continue creating a solid feeder line for Indian cricket.

“Dravid has applied for NCA. He wants to stay in that position. He has done great job with India A cricketers, created a complete supply chain for the Indian team, he wants to continue with that”, a senior official from BCCI informed InsideSport.co

Team India Coach – Rahul Dravid Not Interested: It is worth noting that BCCI had recently invited applications for the position of Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after Dravid’s 2 year tenure ended.

Despite being tipped as successor to Shastri as India coach, Dravid according to the information has applied for the role – which clearly shows where his preferences lie.

“Yes, Rahul Dravid has reapplied for the post of Head of Cricket. You don’t need to be a genius to guess that he is going to continue after the tremendous work he has put in to change the face of NCA, which is now truly a centre of excellence,” a senior BCCI source privy to the development told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

“In fact, as of now, save Rahul, there are no other prominent names of stature who have applied for the post.”

It has been learnt that the BCCI has decided to extend the deadline for submission of applications by a few more days to ensure that interested candidates get enough time to apply.

“BCCI brass has decided to extend the deadline from August 15 by a few more days. When Rahul Dravid is in fray, everyone knows that there is little meaning in applying for the post. It’s more of a formality but yeah to be fair, a few more days are there if anyone feels that he would like to throw his hat in the ring,” the source added.

Team India Coach – Rahul Dravid Not Interested: There has been much speculation over Dravid’s role, especially in the context of Team India head coach Ravi Shastri’s tenure coming to an end after the T20 World Cup in the UAE. Dravid was the India coach in Sri Lanka for a limited overs series last month when the Test squad was touring England.

According to the information available, BCCI top brass was interested in blooding Dravid for the top post, but later showed his inability to take up the responsibility.

After the limited overs series in Sri Lanka, Dravid had gone on record saying, “there are a lot of challenges in doing full-time roles, so I really don’t know”.

Team India Coach – What about Ravi Shastri? Shastri’s tenure is coming to an end in November right after the T20 World Cup. Shastri is unlikely to reapply for the post when the BCCI comes up with advertisement for the post of new coach for the next cycle.

It’s clear, the BCCI will now have to look beyond Shastri & Dravid for the role of Indian team coach.
