Needing 39 runs to create the record, Rohit Sharma hit top gear. He punished every loose ball against Sri Lanka to stitch together a 100-run stand with Ishan Kishan while achieving his personal milestone. In the end, he played a fine knock of 32-ball 44 to set the stage for India.

Virat Kohli had the opportunity in the West Indies series but missed out on the record by just four runs. He will have the record in sight when India take on South Africa at home after the IPL 2022.
However, if Virat Kohli gets there, he will be the fastest amongst all. He is the only batsman in Top 10 highest-scorers to have a 50+ average. His closest rival in terms of consistency is Pakistan captain Babar Azam who has averaged 45.17 in 73 matches.
