World Cup Semifinals RaceHow India can make it to the Last 4? Virat Kohli’s Team India clinched a commanding win over Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to give some joy to the supporters a day before Diwali.

India’s NRR jumps from -1.609 to +0.073, Afghanistan slips down to +1.481 from +3.097. NZ at +0.816. New Zealand v Afghanistan game to decide the group 2

What India need to qualify for the semi-final:

  • First thing first, like against Afghanistan & Scotland – India need to register huge wins against Namibia in last match. But that too will only come to play if Afghanistan beats New Zealand.
  • If New Zealand beats Afghanistan – India, Afghanistan will be out & New Zealand will qualify as 2nd time, provided they also beat Namibia.
  • Should New Zealand vs Afghanistan end in the latter’s favour, and Virat Kohli and Co. register win against Namibia – INDIA will go through as they have better NRR vs both NZ and AFG.
POS TEAM PLAYED WON LOST N/R TIED NET RR POINTS
1  PAKISTAN 4 4 0 0 0 +1.065 8
2  NEW ZEALAND 4 3 1 0 0 +1.277 6
3  INDIA 4 2 2 0 0 +1.619 4
4  AFGHANISTAN 4 2 2 0 0 +1.481 4
5  NAMIBIA 4 1 3 0 0 -1.851 2
6  SCOTLAND 4 0 4 0 0 -3.494 0

New Zealand: Kiwis can avoid all that NRR discussion, if they win their last match against Afghanistan.

Afghanistan: Afghanistan can only make it to semifinals if they beat New Zealand, if they lose they will be out. But to be sure, they not only should beat New Zealand, but they might also need to do so by a certain margin to factor in a huge win for India against Namibia the following day.

T20 World Cup LIVE – World Cup Semifinals Race: Group 1
