India have named their 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad on Tuesday. The tournament will kick off on June 1 while India will begin their campaign on June 5 against Ireland. Rohit Sharma will lead Indian Cricket Team in the ninth edition.
Shivan Dube’s impressive IPL performance ensured his inclusion in the squad, maintaining his place after featuring in the recent T20I series against Afghanistan. With stellar displays for the Chennai Super Kings, he amassed 350 runs in nine matches at an outstanding strike rate of 172.41.
India has opted for a spin-heavy bowling lineup, comprising Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal, while Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the pace attack, supported by Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya.
The selection of batters saw no surprises, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav expected to strengthen the top order alongside captain Rohit.
Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh, along with pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan, are named among the reserves.
