Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021: Punjab beat Goa: Punjab received a huge boost in net run rate after a big 81-run win over Goa in an Elite Group A match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Saturday. Prabhsimran’s century helped Punjab post 197 and the bowlers did the rest of the job, restricting Goa to 116 runs. After losing to Maharashtra on Friday, Punjab bounced back stronger to mark their second win of SMAT 2021, while Goa won their first match on Friday against Puducherry.

After losing the toss and getting to bat first, Punjab made the best use of the opportunity. In the first 10 overs, Punjab post a total 85 runs and lost no wickets. The team lost the first wicket of Shubhman (40 runs off 36 balls) at 118/1. From there on, it was Prabhsimran Singh who made headlines with a brilliant century. Prabhsimran dominated throughout the innings and smashed Goa bowlers with 17 boundaries, 11 fours and 6 sixes. Goa bowlers couldn’t stop the juggernaut of Prabhsimran Singh.
Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021: Punjab vs Goa: While chasing a huge target of 198, Goa did have a great start to their innings. However, as soon as wickets begin to fall, they were unable to keep up their game as Goa batsmen struggled with Punjab’s bowling attack, especially Siddharth Kaul, Harpreet Brar and Mayank Markande. In the first 10 overs, Goa put a total of 66 runs, while in the final 10 overs they added only 51 runs.
