SRH Auction Updates & SRH Full Squad: Sunrisers Hyderabad bag Aiden Markram for 2.6 Cr, sign Marco Jansen for 4.2 Cr: Follow IPL 2022 Auction LIVE Updates

Having struggled with all-round options over the past couple of seasons, Sunrisers went hard in on Washington Sundar, who was their first purchase of the day for Rs 8.75 Crore. The 2016 champions then went all in for Ishan Kishan, but fell short, with Mumbai Indians buying him back for 15.25 crore. After another failed pursuit for Jonny Bairstow, Hyderabad put their bids on Nicholas Pooran, signing him for Rs 10.75 crore.

Sunrisers let a lot of emotion dictate their bidding, choosing to buy back a whole lot of their players who were released into the pool. Pacers T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were brought back, while Abhishek Sharma and Priyam Garg also earned gigs with Hyderabad again. SRH were stretched into paying Rs 6.25 Cr for Abhishek, with interest from Punjab Kings as well.

With holes to fill and a huge budget still available, SRH managed to rake in the services of uncapped Rahul Tripathi for 8.5 Cr. The ex-Kolkata Knight Riders has shown his potential over the last few years in the IPL and Sunrisers will be hoping to give him the platform to express his talent.

Considering their business, SRH will want to add more runs to their batting and perhaps go big on some overseas options yet to come in the picture. The likes of Liam Livingstone, Devon Conway, Aiden Markam, Dawid Malan, Sam Billings and Rassie van der Dussen will all be under consideration by the franchises.

They do also have a need for a spinner and could look at overseas options with Adam Zampa, Mujeeb and Shamsi all available to pick from. SRH have the flexibility to spread out their overseas contingent meaning a few steals could very well come their way as they look to plug the gaps on their roster.
