SRH IPL Captain – IPL 2023: After a long wait, Sunrisers Hyderabad have finally unveiled their new captain. As reported by InsideSport earlier, Aiden Markram has been chosen as SRH skipper. SA player pimped a challenge from Mayank Agarwal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for this honour. Considering Markram recently led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the inaugural SA20 title, he is the right choice to be named the new captain. The South African was also the player of the tournament. With three different captains in the last two seasons, SRH are in a mess they need to get out of. Both their former captains are out of the team and SRH need to rebuild. In Aiden Markram SRH now has a great leading man. While Mayank is a sure-shot starter, Aiden Markram is the team’s backbone in batting.
In Bhuvneshwar Kumar, SRH have an experienced campaigner and the backbone in bowling. However, he has been injury prone and could be a difficult choice to make. He has led SRH in David Warner’s absence. Furthermore, Bhuvneshwar has fallen out of favour in national team and SRH would aim to avoid another costly mistake.

Aiden Markram has already publicly expressed his interest and the SRH management has been in talks with him over the role.
“What’s going to happen, to be honest… either way we back the management’s decision about who they want to be in charge. Becoming the captain is not the be all and end all. You can be in some form of leadership role too. But I am okay with captaincy, it’s something that I enjoy doing,” Markram said before SA20 final.
