Bravest Cricketer in World: Will Pucovski not ready to give up despite 11th concussion – Australia opening batter Will Pucovski has said he would like to continue playing cricket after 11th concussion. The 24-year-old has played just one first-class innings since his Test match debut against India in 2021. During this time, the right-hand batter has suffered a shoulder injury and two concussions within three months. Despite doctors’ advice to quit, Pucovski is not ready to give up the sport he loves the most.

A meeting between doctors and the Australia opening batter on Thursday (February 24) will give a clear picture of Pucovski’s return to competitive cricket. Cricket Australia (CA) medical staff will also monitor his condition and decide if he needs more time away from the game.

According to reports in The Age, Pucovski could play in the coming season and has made his intentions clear to Victoria coach Chris Rogers.

“There’s conversations that are happening in the background. Will has indicated he wants to keep playing,” Rogers told SEN.

“We just have to weigh up everything that is happening at the moment. He’s been in and around the Junction Oval a few times over the four days of the Shield game, and he’s coming in tomorrow (Thursday) to have a chat and we will see how he’s going.

“He’s pretty hopeful. We just have to have those conversations and make sure everything is OK. I’m sure that will play out.”

A freak head injury meant Pucovski had to take his 11th concussion test. The 24-year-old has played just one first-class game post his Test debut due to a series of concussions, meaning that an opportunity with the Australian squad has also gone begging multiple times.
